Hello, I'm Paula Simpson, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I bring a holistic approach to mental health care, integrating nutrition, exercise, sleep, community, social support, and fun into my practice. All of these elements are crucial to overall health, and I also specialize in medication management.
Before becoming a PMHNP, I proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 26 years. During my service, I experienced peacetime, wartime, and everything in between as a non-commissioned officer and sergeant major. I most enjoyed helping soldiers with their personal development. I also graduated from the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence's Sergeants Major Academy.
My military background has deeply influenced my approach to psychiatric care. I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, and I am committed to helping you feel better both mentally and physically. Together, we will work hard on your journey to wellness.
As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I use they/them/their pronouns and am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for everyone, regardless of gender or sexual identity. I will never make you feel guilt or shame. I do not support any form of conversion therapy and understand the profound impact minority stress can have on a person's physical, mental, and spiritual health.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University and my Master of Science in Nursing from D'Youville University.
I look forward to working with you and supporting your mental health journey.
